چکیده

The space robot is the indispensable tool for future space activities such as building and operation of the international space station, inspection and repair of orbiting satellites, and conducting lunar/planetary explorations. The rendezvous docking technology to meet and to connect two spacecraft in-orbit is also an essential technology for the future space missions such as logistic support of the international space station. Therefore, National Space Development Agency of Japan developed and launched an engineering test satellite named ETS-VII(Engineering Test Satellite #7) on November 28, 1997 to conduct the rendezvous docking and space robot technology experiments. This paper shows an overview of the ETS-VII project and the results of various experiments on it. Keyword: space robot, teleoperation, satellite, rendezvous docking Fig.1 ETS-VII chaser and target satellites

On-ground tele-operation and on-board autonomous control for the ETS-VII’s rendezvous docking and space robot experiments

In the near future space activities, the in-orbit servicing capability which means transportation of logistics, maintenance of spacecraft and assist of scientific activities such as space experiments are highly required. These work will be partly conducted by astronauts and manned spacecraft. However, most of these works should be done by unmanned spacecraft and robots from the safety and cost ...

Testing Space Robotics on the Japanese ETS-VII Satellite

Introduction ETS-VII (Engineering Test Satellite VII) is a NASDA programme designed to test key rendezvous, docking and robotics technologies in space. The Japanese space agency has built, launched and operates this test satellite, equipped with a robotic manipulator and a small subsatellite, to carry out such experiments. In response to a NASDA call for co-operation, ESA proposed two experimen...
